Tidehunter - Leviathan
« on: June 04, 2010, 19:20 »
As discussed in this topic, I think guides by the players can be created.
So I will start posting topics like this one. Every week I will post a new topic with a new hero. Every member can suggest item build, skill build, gameplay... (and other). I will edit the first post with the best suggestions.
The next hero will be Leviathan.

Hero introduction
A massive sea monster of incredible strength and toughness, Leviathan is a real tank. Using his Gush skill, he can slow and damage a single target while reducing their armor, allow the Tidehunter and his allies to pummel the target to a pulp. To aid his close combat skills, the Leviathan has a powerful Anchor Smash passive skill, which gives him a chance to unleash a devastating area of effect spin with every attack. A target of Gush who is hit by an Anchor Smash or two is in deep trouble. To protect himself while chasing down and smashing enemies, Leviathan has a second passive: Kraken Shell. This ability reduces all damage from physical attacks by a set number, allowing the Leviathan to wade into combat without fear, ignoring the blows of lesser foes. Kraken Shell also occasionally dispels negative spell effects from Leviathan, making him even more difficult to stop. By far the most feared ability of the Tidehunter is Ravage. This mighty ability allows the Tidehunter to cause immense damage and stun all enemies in a large area around him. This ability is most effective in large team battles, where it is a simple matter to hit the entire enemy team at once with its spikes, setting up the Tidehunter and his allies for an easy victory.
Background Story
Greatest of the sea giants, Leviathan was sealed away in the aftermath of the war between the Old Gods and the Titans in ancient times. Now released by the Lich King to aid in his crusade against the Sentinel, he cleaves through waves of enemies with his mighty anchor, breaking enemy sieges before they even begin. As terrible a foe on land as he is in water, those who stand before the Tidehunter are swept away in a sea of spikes, eviscerated as he closes in to pulverize those left to receive his wrath.

You have some mana problems. Start with an item to fix this:
Perseverance or Bottle, or Soul Ring.
Power Treads (Strenght) - you need boots and these are the best.
Bracer(s) would be a nice start.
Armlet of Mordiggian is an item that will help you throug the whole game.
Kelens Dagger - an item you will need. This item will be used all of the game.
Assault Cuirass - armor and attack speed.
Heart of Tarrasque for the late game.
Item build if you play as a support hero in the team
Magic Wand is the item you will need.
Null Talisman(s) - same as Bracer(s), they help you in the early game.
Power Treads (Strenght) - you will need a pair of boots.
Black King Bar - buy this item if you're facing a team of nukers.
Refresher Orb - there isn't an item you can buy with so much gold for a support hero.
Guinsoo's Scythe of Vyse - a support hero without Guinsoo's in late game?

Level 1: Gush
Level 2: Atribute points / Kraken Shell ( depends on what lane you are and what heroes you are against )
Level 3: Gush
Level 4: Atribute points / Kraken Shell
Level 5: Gush
Level 6: Ulti
Level 7: Gush
Level 8-10: Attribute points / Kraken Shell
Level 11: Ulti
After that Anchor Smash. By the minute 20th you should have at least Orb of Preservance, Power treads, Couple of Bracers. These items are enough for the first 20 minutes, Leviatan is Strong enough even w/o items so just use ulti and Gush all the time.
At late game, Heart is prefered to increase HP incase you need to go first in battle. Never buy VANGUARD because it will only mess your Kraken Shell spell which is much much better.
Also Avatar is a nice choice of item if you are up agains Spell casters and Nukers. You also might need a disable item if none of your team have any disables. So Sange and Yasha could prove usefull or even Diffusal Blade.

He can be tank but also he can be gr8 support.....
TANK- gush + kraken shell + ulty (hood + armlet + hot + bkb)

Suport gush + atributes + ulty (preservance + treads in int + null talisman + refresher + hex)

Depends of game......

For me tide is better like support cuz if he use his ulty 2 times there is no1 to attack him :)

He doesnt need Bkb , he jumps with dagger then ulti + gush.
Avatar is for high dmg heroes and he is definetely not.

I'd say sphere , dagger and hot can combine nicely with kraken shell for running.

Yeah that looks lovely, if you are a SOLO player and only farming in woods, you can get those nice, expensive, lets say best items in the game..
But don`t be fooled that you can make those items every time you play.

Like i said. Power Treads, Orb of Preservance and 2 Bracers are all that you need for the first 15-20minutes. Then you can gather enough money to build Heart, Linken or BKB.  Dagger i never use, becase Tide`s ulti has a veeery large AOE so you don`t need to waste 2150 gold on that item.
Lets be real, with all game team play you can never buy that expensive items no matter how good you are. Just stick to the basic build i suggested and you can do fine.

Dude BKB is only for situatins where you play vs disablers, so before they disable you, you can disable them with BKB they can`t touch you and most players just go back from the guy that used BKB..
About Dagger, i don`t know... Maybe used depends on what team you have, what kind of disablers they have, how they gang and stuff...

Dagger - 2150
BKB - 3900

If u save little more u will buy 2100 orb and further sphere. (Retards will buy bfury for imba FTW splash , whatever)

U use dagger to chase , gang , Jump with proper ulti , escape ... etc.

U buy bkb and .... exactly,  u wont get hexed/stunned or other crap , but thats all. Oh You will pwn them all with 20% Anchor slam.

Basically Dagger >>>> your BKB , face the real world , ty.

No matter the situation, nor opponents, dagger will always be a MUST on levi. I think it's second best initiator, after ES.  As for rest of the items, I'd never go for s&y/diffusal/bf ..imo, worst items on him. Hood if necessary + vanguard ( how does vanguard mess up your kraken ?! iirc, it 'improves' it ) , refresher , shiva and hot ..  well, yeah , expensive items ,but said for the record :D to fill up slots.

ek0 maybe you should quit doing these guides. People don`t even read the full storyline before posting. You are telling him 2+2 = 4 and he keeps on complaining how that is equal to 5...
