The 10th minute rule
« on: August 17, 2010, 17:43 »
§§§ If 40% of users in game complain about unplayable conditions (with !rmk) in the first 10 minutes of the game, all players have to leave (and game owner can rehost the game). §§§

I feel that this shiny piece of rules is becoming a growing issue. There are other discusions of the ability of playing 5v4, there is topic in flame room about mod banning 4 guys who stayed at fountain etc.

My point is that i can't see this rule to have any effect on the games. We all know the story: One guy performs feed&leave combo leaving frustrated teammates spamming !rmk. In very rare and bright cases the opposite team understands agrees with rmk and every1 is free to go back to RL or join another dota game.

More common however is the ignorance, flame war about the f****** r***** from weakened team, and shouts
n***** this is pro game from the opposite team, followed by !muteall command if the nubmers are on sentienls side. If i find myself in such a situation i can't see ANYONE saying : there is rule we must remake the game or we will get banned.

And they won't. I am not aware of any punishment of not voting team despite the number of request.
An example can be found here http://playdota.eu/forum/index.php/topic,15881.msg49173.html#msg49173
So whats  is an exact meaning of this rule? How is it applied? Can you show me at least 1 topic where breaker was banned?

THIS ISNT DISCUSION ABOUT 5v4 PLAYABILITY. ITS ONLY ABOUT EFFECTIVITY OF CERTAIN RULE

It is very simple: You can not force anyone to vote, that is why we added" 40% in first 10 min of the game" ( 4 votes you can all leave without ban, and if host ban anyone of you, we will ban him for ban abuse )

BUT YOU HAVE TO KNOW IN FIRST 10 MIN! NOT IN 10:01!

About request that you speaking about, check when they started to vote! Check the time!

I hope I was clear with this!

Cheers!

So if we all vote in the first 10 mins and the sentinel doesn't cooperate i am free to simply quit? This will be 99% followed by ban so i need your assurance.

Unfortunetly fail.
Even if rules are by your side it doesnt change fact that host will ban you ALWAYS!!... in such situation.
Hosts did learn only one thing - if someone LEAVES (no matter if he was pinged out which is not leave but lost connection or someone did ask for leave; everyone agreed) they BAN no matter what.

Point is even if you would ban host for ban abuse... the unfair banned players have to come here or register and spend time for unban request. Sometimes whole proces is taking too long because nobody is here 24/7.
They have to wait few days of punishamnt even if they didnt do anything bad.

So this rule could be also removed because nobody obey it.

Is it a must? People does put in game name "5v5" no for fun only. No fun if you lose 2 stuners... or 2 tanks...
no point of the game then.. and mostly it is lost game cause nobody wants rmk or sw.

It doesnt need to be removed , host who abuse ban like that shall be punished severely, 2x harder  , coz if u host a game u should be smart enough to distinguish plug from leave and !rmk rule etc.

What about smart hosts who type !synclimit 10.000 when a player starts to lag (and will drop in 99% of cases) at 9'30 ?

you can just leave and get unbanned, and host gets banned, that is correct, but heres what hapenned to me..i quited like that couple times, and got unbaned as the rule says.

But once i missed the timing, and quon didnt unban me saying that  have multiple warnings form previous leaves(witch were by the rule, the leaves i mentioned above)..

S why are there warns if we leave by the rule??From that moment on,i dont dare to leave in those situations...

Well you answer yourself by this!

That is why I said IN FIRST 10:00 MIN NOT IN 10:01, and after that time!
