Yes, and this is why Skywrath is picked/banned in every game  (I'm not arguing that he is bad, simply that he is not autowin mid you present him to be. Good/pooled OD will destroy him, not to mention he is 10x times worse vs ganks then most other "mid" heroes due to having no escape mechanism and low hp. There are other heroes that can contest him quite well in one way or another)

I was talking specifically to 1v1 situation, because these idiots don't realise that there is not one hero who can "easy win" vs him in a 1v1 scenario.

5v5 is obviously different. He is perfectly viable for proper 5v5 play, teams don't pick him because they have other plans in mind, or want to go for something different, not because he is bad.

Dota isn't perfectly black and white, many things work. It just so happens he isn't liked by most of the competitive scene, main reason ?

I will tell you, lack of versatility.

He is a one trick phony.
Nuke, damage, burst.
A little silence.
He isn't capable of doing something else, something more impacting, like a magnus for instance.

That's why he isn't picked. He works excellently with specific setup, in a specific situation, but the current playstyle doesn't leave too much margin for error or weaknesses of any kind.
Lack of versatility is a very big weakness in competitive play (it can also be a strenght, I will detail on that in the later part of this post).
 
Competitive teams prefer heroes which are good in all stages, and there are few heroes which are good in all stages and dominate in a particular stage also, those are being picked the most, for obvious reasons.

That's why he isn't picked. That doesn't mean it can't work, competitive teams just don't like to risk, they like to control everything as much as possible, and not being able to control more areas of the game is a weakness for them. Sky isn't spectacular at all late, (he is more along the lines of, absolute shit, late) and even though you should be winning early-mid with it, and proper team synergy, he is a big risk incase the enemy team manages to go late.
And like I said like a thousand times, competitive teams like to minimize risk.

Another way to put it is, that they are a bunch of unconfident pussies, who rely more on possible easy hero synergy coordinations, rather than on their skill. Can't blame them though, because their competition is doing the same.

Or maybe I can blame them ? Let's see.

Everyone is taking this game way too seriously for their own skill level to rise. If you don't risk, you will never learn certain aspects of real dota skill.

This is the only reason why Na'Vi raped international 1 so hard, because everyone was a bunch of safe playing pussies with potential for all areas of the game, instead of going ALL OUT for a single one. Picking heroes like chen, heroes that are absolute shit if they don't get a proper earlygame, heroes that are absolute SHIT in certain areas of the game (late), but that DOMINATE a particular one (early), that's why they won it. (And another big reason is that, the hero pool was very limitted, so there was a ridicolous potential for this kind of strategy, this might be a bigger reason why they won it playing like this, but still, they took a small risk in playing this way, a risk the others didn't even consider.)

Showing your hand however, is a weakness, and the pool now is large enough to completely counter an all out strategy, IF it is anticipated. And after international 1, you can bet your ass it was anticipated. That's why they haven't won international 2. Also because they are a weaker team than iG of course, they changed their players and weren't well synergized anymore. But I'm getting a little offtopic here, so I'll stop with this.

Nice joke, he can nuke the shit out of him before he even thinks of regenerating life through lasthits, and then he won't be able to go in lane for a little heal because he will simply die to slow + nukes.

If he is well equipped though, maybe he can put up a little resistance with his silence and some salves.

Staying alive doesn't mean "easy win" though. Maybe you can explain further with that ? He doesn't kill creeps quick enough to counter sky damage, and his silence requieres more cast time than sky nuke, so there is a little weakness there also. He would have to have some clue to what he is doing to do well vs sky. I thought you said you can provide me with hero which can "easy win" vs him.

Easy win meaning also easily killing him, or something more than just staying alive and getting some little lasthits, like preventing him from getting xp etc.

Like I said there is no such hero, and therefore sky is overpowered in laning stage, because every hero can be EMBARASSED by another hero during laning stage in 1v1 situation. Sky cannot be embarassed by anyone, and he embarasses almost everyone himself.

Go ahead and refuse to accept this if you want, I'll be here as always, being right about everything and leaving you speechless.

I forgot to write about this, what I ment to say was the fact that, the heroes which lack versatility, are often the heroes which are very strong in a specific situation, and if you can take advantage of that situation it won't matter how limitted they are. Such heroes are more skill requiering, something most of the competitive players fear to play, because it is easy to fail. That's why they are avoiding picking them some of the time.
