GEST '13 to Have Both DotA and Dota 2
We knew that the Gigabyte E-Sports Tournament (GEST) will have another gaming season come 2013. What we don't know was on which client will it be played.
After receiving a great reception from the SEA community last year under WC3 DotA, and an equally great reception for the 1-time Dota 2 tournament - we can safely say that GEST had a successful conception.
They will try to ride their momentum into another season this new year, featuring not only one of the 2 games, but both of them.
GEST - IDC 2013 will have a separate tournament for DotA and Dota 2. It will be an 8-month season, starting from March and will end in October. Contrary to the non-connected monthly legs observed on its first season, this one will have an accumulative pointing system.
Points will then translate to a ranking, and a specific number of the higher-ranked teams will advance into the playoffs in November. Aside from that though, the actual format hasn't been decided yet.
The tournament will still be primarily for SEA teams only. However, 'GEST Dota 2 The Challenge, SEA vs. China' will also continue..
