Any form of metric is good for determining who is the best at that specific metric.

Winning is the main objective of the game, therefore having winning as the metric is the best way to rank people.

If other forms of rating were present, people would give up on trying to win when the game is even slightly difficult and they would instead try to farm rating points in those specific hypothetical ways.

To give a small example, if you would gain some rating points for having x amount of last hits, people would afk on lanes to get those last hits instead of doing things on the map like they should.

Another example, if you would gain some rating points for having y amount of kills, people would start using spells only to last hit the kill instead of using the spells when they should in order to win the fight.

Yet another example, if you would gain some rating points for having z amount of k.d.a. ratio, everyone would start being scared of dying and not going in to do things in fights even if they should, (because every death reduces the k.d.a. ratio immensely), and so on and so forth.

Therefore, having only winning as a metric is the best.

How are you ? Healthy I hope, in these coronavirus times. Be very cautious and do not underestimate the situation, take as many safety precautions as you can. This is not a joke at all, it's not even close to a simple cold, it has long-lasting effects on your lungs if you get a severe form of the virus, so be very careful to not get it.

I'm glad to see the server is still going strong here I might visit sometime in the future as well, we'll see.

I'm not sure where to make this topic, I wanted to share some dota related things so I guess this is a good spot since it's dota discussions.

I made a youtube channel very recently and I have a few old dota 1 videos as well. They're all played on xpam/lagabuse/eurobattle here, from 5 years ago, in 2015.

Also, what happened with Fnatic - Liquid game 2? Took a quick nap after pick phase to suddenly come back to 24-1 (that minutes later turned into 39-1 gg)? Just what the heck did I miss?

liquid haven't changed their strat at all, they play around miracle by creating space for him. if miracle doesn't have a good game then their team usually crumbles. that's what happened that game in a nutshell. he played husk vs clinkz mid and even his sups couldnt help him stay in lane so he eventually was forced to jungle.
I'm pretty sure liquid has a higher win rate when miracle plays pos1 instead of pos2.
I wouldn't have been surprised if fnatic 2-0 them actually, they were pretty close to winning the first game too. I actually couldn't stop laughing when I saw EE-sama going for those t4 towers and dying

it's so funny how much game understanding you lack jean

all games from group stage of liquid/lgd/vp/eg are worth watching, these are the best 4 teams
and now on main event watch all games obviously
