DotA Discussion / Re: Bane bug
« on: October 05, 2012, 21:43 »
I was looking for a discussion. I didnt wana file report for ban, not before people told me if this is done on purpose or is it just accident. Even if its an accident i thought it would be interesting to talk about. First i asked in General forum but got locked immediately and told i need to report it as a ban. Still looking for a discussion i tried here. Now when you think about it mods are really lock happy around here http://i.imgur.com/XYA6b.jpg
No wonder there is nobody here who wants to start chatting. If you wana talk about something you are a spammer and you get lock. Im not telling anybody how to run a forum or change anything. If this is what you want i will be perfectly content doing just "business" in this place (ban, unban requests, done)

DotA Discussion / Bane bug
« on: October 04, 2012, 20:28 »
This game  http://lagabuse.com/stats/game/4550038/sdeu1700-7 around 18 min Ursa gets perma -110 damage from Bane. Couple minutes later Blood gets -60 permanent damage from bane.

Just wanted to know is this something that just happens or is it done on purpose by someone who wants to abuse dota bugs?

General Discussions / Bug abuse?

In this game http://lagabuse.com/stats/game/4550038/sdeu1700-7 around 18min (replay time) I get perma -110 damage (Ursa) and couple of minutes later Blood gets perma -60 damage. We had to die to remove it.

Team mate told me Bane is abusing some bug. Should i make a bun report for him? Is he abusing some bug on purpose or does this just happens?

Also isnt there some rule against having a nickname like this __][ ??

This is bad idea. I understand it is annoying. I didn't read whole What is considered spam? topic but if any1 would do this whole game I would consider it as spam probably.
But how often this happen? For me it is quite rare.
You would need to make more commands, like !ignorermk, !ignorevotekick and so on, if you would ignore all these messages, well, you wouldn't know what's going on at all. There's votekick? You won't vote. There's rmk for some reason? You won't vote. Did enemy forfeit? You won't know. Some1 left, is autoban on? You won't know...

How about ignore commands started by only 1 certain player? If someone is abusing the commands you just ignore the ones coming from that player. All others could be displayed.

This bot command abuse happens fairly often. Maybe not as extreme as the one i saw last time but when someone is mad about something he will start to do this kind of thing.

But i can understand if its to complicated to do this...  :-\

If someone starts to spam in game chat with flaming massages, spaming or you simply dont wana see someones else chat you use command !ignore [nickname] and the problem is solved, everybody is happy.

Can something similar be added to the bot commands/ command from host like (!rmk, !from, !votekick player etc.). Currently there is no way to ignore these massages because they pop up on screen for everyone in game no matter what.

I recently had a game with the player who wanted to quit and was starting votekick for himself !votekick [nickname] for every 2 minutes of a 60 minutes long game in hopes he will annoy players enough that they will kick him. I find this pop up msg annoying but the official policy is that this is not spam. I can respect official stand on this but if i find those pop up massages annoying why shouldn't i be able to ignore them just like i can ignore certain player chat while in game?

What does community think about this?

That wasn't a regular chat. That was the same pop up massage pooping on the screen for the entire game. With no possibility to ignore it. Maybe im wrong and that is only annoying and distracting to me.

But if nobody is gonna comment their own opinion on this i think there is no more point talking about it. You think its perfectly ok i think its not.

At least i can walk away from this knowing that i can type commands like (!rmk, !votekick player) as much as i like in game and its not considered a spam. Well as long as messages are more then 1min apart.

edit: "Oh and btw Barakuda ...Tiny and Lancer won that game ...so ...no more comment"
You basically told me here i cannot comment anymore and since you are the highest authority in this tread i assume if i comment i will get a ban. Maybe i just dont know what you mean by that statement.
It doesnt really matter

It doesnt really matter if u win/loose game, because following rules shouldnt be affected by that. U never know when u gonna meet him next time and he might do it again, so there could be always sth like "warn for spamming 1/2,  next time it would be 2/2 => WARNED for spamming"

And ? IMO Tiny almost won the game for THEM ...He wasn't afk(like the most spammers would have been) he wasn't game ruining , he ONLY wanted to get out of the game . dunno why but he wanted out.
That spam he did (!votekick command) wasn't that hard ,that ppl couldn't play ...Tiny's score proves that ,and Lancer's too ..so I don't rly know why Barakuda posted this ...

@KingW3 Agreed

"And ? IMO Tiny almost won the game for THEM"

The more you know. If you brake the rules play good and all is forgiven.

"He wasn't afk(like the most spammers would have been)"

Thats why i didnt report him for afk. I reported him for spam.

"That spam he did (!votekick command) wasn't that hard ,that ppl couldn't play ...Tiny's score proves that ,and Lancer's too ..so I don't rly know why Barakuda posted this ..."

It's pretty annoying when you see same bot msg popping on your screen every 2 mins. He didnt do it 2-3 times he did it more then 10 times in a row in hopes he will annoy us enough with it so we would kick him.

But forget about it. I dont know how a noob such as myself dared to question actions of a mighty player like Tiny.

"Oh and btw Barakuda ...Tiny and Lancer won that game ...so ...no more comment"

I know now. We established if you brake some rules but win the game it doesnt really matter. The important thing is you won the game

"so ...no more comment"

What a swell guy you are... flexing your mod muscles at me. I guess i dont have the right to comment anymore. Looks like im getting a ban on forum for stating my opinion. Well thats that then i guess.

It depends of the mod who checks the request, but if the player abused the commands more than a certain times, yes, it's considered spam. Still, because the commands were given at 1 min difference, not at a shorter time, it it a subjective problem.

You can see how many times he used the command(less then 2 mins apart for the whole game). As soon votekick timer expired he did it again. He cannot spam the command more offten because massage will be displayed "Votekick already in progress" Every time he starts it again we all have to see the massage and we obviously dont want to vote him out therefore its spam imo.

The thing is ,i don't know why do u bother ...u Won the game

If the rules were broken why does it matter who won the game? If someone in enemy team is using MH and we win do you say "You won. Why do you care if he is using mh"

...even though u fed them (and ur feed didn't came out of his spam ) ...

Why are you bringing up my score? Im a noob. Does being a noob break any rules? Should i get banned for being a noob?

I guessed u just need some1 to blame for ur score ...That's why i didn't warn him ....get it now ?"

I think i get it. Because im a noob you are going to ignore the rules to teach me a lesson. Tnx. I learned now if someone is a noob he shouldn't bother reporting breaking of the rules.

But hey... im just asking questions here. Its good to know that this kind of typing bot commands isnt considered a spam and now i can link to this treads if someone gives me trouble over it right? Ok then.

If someone spam bot commands (!rmk, !votekick player etc.) every 2 minutes of a 60 min. game is that considered a spam?
Look at the game log of this game http://lagabuse.com/stats/game/4321110/apeu16001-4

15:24    MihaZupan (Allies)    !votekick miha
16:27    MihaZupan (Allies)    !votekick miha
17:28    MihaZupan (Allies)    !votekick miha
18:31    MihaZupan (Allies)    !votekick miha
20:40    MihaZupan (Allies)    !votekick miha
21:44    MihaZupan (Allies)    !votekick miha
22:45    MihaZupan (Allies)    !votekick miha
23:46    MihaZupan (Allies)    !votekick miha
24:44    MihaZupan (Allies)    !votekick miha
25:46    MihaZupan (Allies)    !votekick miha
and so on....

Every time he does this massage is displayed across the screen
"Votekick has been started by the player[nicknam] to kick the player[nickname]. To kick player[nickname]type !yes..."

You cannot ignore this with the !ignore [nickname] command and its displayed to every player every time he types this command.

So is this considered a spam and does this person deserves a ban or at least a warning for this?
