The playdota.eu community is something between a free-for-all bot, and a dota ladder. People come and play there because the latency is very low, and because there are (*cough*) less leavers than in regular pub games. In addition, some are attracted by the stats and e-penis values.
I see 2 problems :
- too much banning power is given to hosts (and thus, ban/unban mods have to work on a lot of requests concerning abuses of the system)
- people can make other accounts too easily, evade bans, and act like idiots.
Maybe MyUberGeek could tell us what the next evolution of PD will be. But in the current situation I dont see any effective workaround....
On some other leagues on Gangrena, there are stuffs like Level restriction (i.e. you can't join the room where the dota games are launched if your Garena account is not level 8 for example - and it takes some days to get a lvl8 account), which slow down the people who want to multiacc. But there's no such thing on Bnet. Maybe our pvpgn genius coders could find a way to set a "dota level" for each Bnet account by hijacking the Bnet PG level feature.
But since PD.eu isnt a high level league with a vouch system, and since in 2010 you still (fortunately) can't uniquely identify a computer on the internet... you can still try to tweak the banning rules, but morons will keep on abusing the pros and cons of every aspect of the rules.
We're fucked!
