Here is the thing, first while DOTA 2 was in development, we would get the maps with the updates here, this would be like testing the maps and then they would be implemented in DOTA 2. Now it takes like a whole year due to the new mechanics in DOTA 2 and most of them can't be implemented in WC3 DotA because of Engine Limitations and JASS is shit besides. Now the map is getting closer and closer to 8MB which is the maximum limit, only way to prolong the creation of it would be to change the loading screen and to reduce the size it takes so that they could implement more stuff. DOTA 2 is simply better right now because it gets all its updates, doesn't have a shitty community like the one in WC3 and most important, you can't use maphacks there. Another problem is the mods here, they can break the rules and leave whenever they want, they get autobanned but can still join games, that's so smart, lets make all our friends mods and let them play and break the rules. And don't forget, some mods are cancer that literally players quit the game because of their dumb decisions, any thoughts on how long WC3 DotA will keep getting updated by IceFrog until he quits on it and fully moves to DOTA 2?
