Dear travelers to Turkey: please don’t come visit until you’ve understood these 8 things
1. You don’t have to wear a headscarf.
2. Turks don’t speak Arabic.
3. Outside the tourist centres, English isn’t spoken that much.
4. Falafel is not Turkish food.
5. Turkey isn’t a Middle Eastern country.
6. Turkish hospitality is legendary.
7. We have a very different meaning of being “on time.”
8. When it comes to getting directions, people prefer to tell you anything, even if it’s wrong, rather than admit they don’t know.
