Title: PSC #3
Post by: Rocka on April 09, 2012, 13:00
Welcome to Photoshop Challenge #3!

This is new kind of competition, and we wish to include more people participating.

For example:

I chose this image:
And the challenge is simple, make this image interesting using Blurs, Color Adjustments, Lights, Gradient Maps ... but NO RENDERS OR BRUSHES!

So basically you still want to keep the sense of the photo.

For example I made something like this:
After everyone submitted their photo, we will open new voting thread (like for SOTW) and vote for the most interesting photo. (Everybody's vote counts as 1)

We hope to bring a new dimension to the GFX section (not only sigs, sigs and sigs).
The good thing about this is it doesn't require time or skills.

We will use the following picture to edit:

Deadline: Friday, 13th

Nice one glodar! I like your Sun  :)

This is very hard photo to edit. There is no exact focal point, I mean, you cant take only house as focal and blur everything else.

Challenge Accepted!

I don't mean to be rude at all, but if there is a person who likes this, I will eat my shoe.
I honestly can't imagine why someone would think this will make him win a contest....

rofl

Here is mine , i made it yesterday , forgot to upload . Its kinda LSD , but thats how i like it xd Too bad quality sux when uploading , scumbag imageshack.

Edit for rules : you can use brushes as adjustment , its like you add adj layer and delete specific parts when you dont want it , but for me doing it with brush is easier.

Title: Re: PSC #3
Post by: Natura Sonoris on April 10, 2012, 19:19
Well i did not change them , i just said what should be changed. And here is reason why :

When you edit the image , you use filters , layers , adjustments , blending options and other. For example , you fill layer above with green , set it to 50 % opacity and for example set it to color dodge. Some of you know , that Color dodge gives what i call ''burn'' to image , and it cant look nice in some parts , so you erase those parts (another example is you blur whole image , and erase blur filter on focus point ( in this image , it is house ,so you create focus)).

Point of all this , it can be done on other ways , and i prefer it that , because its more ''me doing doing work of my own'' not letting computer do it for me and not getting the result i wanted. That's why i use brushes for this purpose , you dont have to add adj layer and than erase what you dont like , you can simply use brush as tool to adjust parts only you want adjust. It keeps (like it says in first post ) sense of original image. So brushes should be used only as adjustments . But , it can , other thing to mention : C4D renders do same thing , but with more ease. Its up to rocka to decide about all this.

@vendeta

I left it by mistake , but i did all this for 5,10 mins so it's not big deal for me. I just wanted to do something to bring more activity here.I could spend 2 hours of making it perfect , but i did not have time to do it xD I have a party to organise these days.

I think we all know that with brushes this is ment:

Making the picture look DIFFERENT is mostly what people use brush for, if you want to brush to make something dark or lighter or w/e go ahead, but it may not affect the picture as it is supposed to be.
Imo, that was quite clear when theres stated ''no brushes'' :P
Title: Re: PSC #3
Post by: joyjoy on April 10, 2012, 23:33
exactly..by brushes was meant the custom and build brushes that create some kind of mosaics and classic lines etc..
but brush and I mean basic round brush can be used just to adjust layer through masks..I used it too this way and it doesnt make
any change to picture in way of adding something ;)
if you dunno how masks and adjustings works that you suck PS :D...no Im kidding it was just name of some PS tutorials :D

Imo, if you want to highligh some areas use dodge tool, or burn tool to make something darker..
No need for brushes
