Offtopic / Re: Poll, DotA or DotA 2.
« on: September 21, 2011, 18:47 »
everything is improving and ppl are too old-fashioned for no reason, Valve is improving it now while we write here this crap ;)

Good point, i have an impression that people say "fuck dota2, original rules" just to seem hardcore or cool or whatnot.. There are lots of sequels that surpassed their originals, and valve is one company that i have faith in. Look at half-life for example..

Well, you can say that just like saying "OMG why people still play CoD 2, Modern Warfare 3 is almost out..."
Just like I say: You want to play DotA 2 'cause only graphic look of the game matters to you :P

Everyone has his own reason and choice what game will he play... There's no chance I will play it if it will be pay to play... I've already paid Warcraft 3 *cough* xD The oppinion that if they put price on it there will be less noobs, game ruiners (like some guys think) is totally wrong. On the other hand, if they make it free, they'll still (probably) give some advantage to those who are willing to pay... We'll see how they'll handle leavers and mh-ers (if there will be any) :D
As for the graphics compared to the original, I'm not so impressed, and some look of the heroes also dissapointed me... Just look how Anti-mage's attack animation looks like compared to one in original :D

But hey, they're still developing it, my oppinion (and vote) is based on what I've seen until now, from that Tournament... And at this moment, DotA > DotA 2 IMO. I can't predict what will they change and how will it look like in the future. As long as we're all still playing DotA over HoN/LoL, doesn't matter what version it is ;D

As for CoD, there are different reasons why people choose to play what sequel they want, its different thematics, different mechanics, and a great difference in system requirements.
As for Dota, im saying that 2 will be better because you will have:
1. Improved visuals, and dont say that they suck, because objectively, the graphics became better while retaining the original Dota simplicity and visibility. A few hero models suck, so what, that is easily changed, + some hero models suck in original Dota and noone is complaining..
2. An engine fully adapted to Dota, without the limitations of the W3 engine (still retaining all the characteristics of the original)
3. All the stuff that current Dota requires bots to do the job, so stats, ping, and a matchmaking system, which will probably separate noobs from pros.
4. And finally, most important of all, the fact that it will be pay to play (hopefully and i mean just a game purchase, not a monthly fee) will bring Dota to higher levels, since when you give say 30$ for a game, you will think twice before using hacks, going afk, gameruining etc. I really dont mind paying a reasonable sum if i know that it will reduce the number of ruined games to a minimum.

Hope you get my point now.

Dont see a reason why someone would choose dota over dota 2, unless of course his computer couldnt handle it. I mean, completely the same game,  with tons of features that arent available in dota, or are available partially and in low quality only via the means of bots such as this one...
As for the graphics, everyone complaining about the hero models and such, there are much more great looking heroes than the bad looking ones, and as valve said, they are going to adapt the models according to the players feedback...
And as for the visibility, I dont know what youre talking about, but the game i saw was very much clear and comprehensive, unlike hon for example, where you dont who is who where and why.

Useless... Just write !min 1650/1700 and you will get your 100 games... So this would be kinda futile...

Feedback / Re: -random pick in -ap games
« on: September 16, 2011, 19:42 »
Random is ok as long as you do it as soon as the game starts, so first pick in the team. Randoming the last, well thats pretty stupid, just like deciding what youre going to play before the game starts (im playing ap to get lycan/bara/whatever every time attitude). I rarely play ap games, simply because im bored of seeing the same heroes over and over again (especially after the dota 2 tour, now that everyone who has seen it thinks that there are 20 "pro" heroes in dota, and the rest are utter bullshit), but when i do play ap, i usually go random, at once, its no worse than picking first, since both your team and the opposing team will act according to the first pick.

DotA Discussion / Re: DotA 2 feedback

i will say smtng u all hear many times.. i dont like looks of the most heroes in dota2. i know they cant use same looks as in Dota1 but thats stupid imo. if he moves like storm, and has the spells like storm its f** storm xD

You cant really say that, most heroes look really good,  some are almost like the originals. Some are kinda stupid (Lion, wwtf?) and some are simply awesome (look at razor and axe, i think thats the only thing ill play when dota 2 comes out). And finally, the reason why beta still isnt out is the fact that Valve said that they want to work on player feedback, and that is mostly cosmetic and UI feedback, since the engine is quite awesome, obviously; so i guess we can expect even nicer heroes..

Suggestion Board / Re: Bans for afking
« on: September 09, 2011, 01:27 »
How much should afking be considered game ruining?

As much as leaving the game, if not even more, in most cases. Lots of people still dont realize that dota is a really dynamic game, you can literally return to the game after youve been owned over and over and just turn the tide... They dont understand that a hero that is getting trampled now might become the main force on the battlefield as soon as he reaches lvl xx or gets an xx item... But its kinda hard to make this turnover when you have one guy running around the fountain whining how youre all noobs and hes afk till end.

There are of course valid reasons for people going afk for a few minutes, but i dont think that it is the aim of this discussion..

Suggestion Board / Re: Need answers about votekick abuse
« on: September 02, 2011, 14:53 »
Well yeah, of course there are problems with banning someone for a vote, especially implementing that into the system. When you think about it, its not the system, its the players that are too easily manipulated and unfair.. And this is a good example.. This kick wouldnt even bring anything to the opposite team since it was already game over, and still they decided to do it.. Lame

Really, as lame as it gets. Why wouldnt these guys be banned? I mean I know that this is not bannable, but there is also a rule saying that bans are subject to the admin's opinion, so why not make an exception for these retards..

Why would someone want radi on wind??? Its more of a first line item, and wind usually stands back in team fights...

DotA Discussion / Re: Dota 2 tournament - official tour list
« on: August 18, 2011, 10:47 »
Someone here said that the game has only a quarter of the heroes original dota has, the models are stupid...
Well, I must admit that after seeing a few hero models i was disappointed; i mean, mirana on a skunk? Also the towers and base structures.. WTF?

But you must take into account that the game hasnt even entered beta yet, this whole contest is a big overblown comercial, and Im pretty sure that Ice and Valve will introduce all the original heroes eventually, as well as come up with better design for some heroes, and better ideas on the area of graphics, to make it look a bit more like the original.
I believe the same thing happened with the development of Diablo III, first they showed flashy colourful WOW-like screens, but after some feedback of the audience, they reverted it to the old gloomy DII ambient.

Offtopic / Re: Dota 2 screen shots!
« on: August 17, 2011, 00:12 »
My opinion (and maybe i'm wrong), DotA 2 will (100%) have many effects in HoN and Lol for sure, the most of the people in Hon and lol will start playing Dota 2 and quit their "main" game as they did in DotA(1) when Lol and Hon released. But, people who plays original DotA  for loooong time ..... people who didn't abbandon  it when Lol/Hon released ..... will not leave DotA  for sure, maybe they will play DotA 2 to see how it goes,  i give them 2-3 weeks/month max, then they will return to DotA, its like a virus :P.  Its not about the "Graphics" of a game, but about the originality and the gameplay which in DotA' are Simple and Fucking Awesome. Nobody will quit DotA and IceFrog will continue creating new versions.

Well dota 2 will be just the same as dota, but with better graphics, an engine suited especially for dota, all the featuers that you usually have to mess around with in w3 like dotakeys, manabars etc., score system, antihack measures, and much more.
Whats not to like?
