Title: Warming up before gladiators
Post by: AntlermanXXL on September 03, 2018, 23:36
While we are preparing GLADIATORS idea, let`s warm up. We planned to run it at September, but screwed a bit.

I announce the -CM/-CD hosting every 2 day (when it will be possible for me, according to my free time. Nothing stops you to host game yourself too)!

I think, since we got some really comfortable dedicated realm for dota, and having some stylish list only of DotA games (i really like to see such a 'calm' list without any junk maps), and since the map is going to be more DotA2-like, which means it will forces us to fight and such, by rewarding active fights and punishing for too passive gameplay, - i think now we are ready to play some -CD, -CM games.

Teams will be probably total random ( i will have 1-2 friends, maybe; you can call yours, of course).
Let`s learn to play some modern, clean, smart game.

Like, i will host -CM game right NOW for testing purposes, but probably no one will join without being prepared. So, tomorrow i`ll host too. At like this time.
And again - you can host yourself.

Just get the idea, feel it, like it and start playing interesting DotA games! :-)

Players here haven't read chalonge of the maps since 6.83, so I doubt there will be some progress regarding their gameplay.
Anyway, I will join now.

I disagree.

Any arguments, both?
I`m on beastiary's side now

Reading the changelog most likely will change your gameplay, yeah

But it does not work vice versa as 'a priori' - you can change your gameplay whenever you want.
I did not read any changelog still, for example. I`m pretty sucking at this map and DotA 2, but every second i play here and there - i improve by myself at dota, without reading changelogs. Same as everyone could do. Here is my little argument :-)

By the way, we have played a -CM game, full of randoms;
Me / fairy were captains
Was quite fun.

Man, I would not call that exactly "fun" :D My entire team was harassing me with "pick me naix, pick me leoric", the last guy wanted huscar as the last pick without any support in our team. And guess what? I actually picked them what they wanted, well except huscar, coz that would have been too much. They were even questioning me why am I baning abadon, kka etc.

In a case where I went some normal, decent pick, those guys would have: a) refused to play the heroes I picked for them or b) sucked abnormally and then blame me for picking them heroes they did not want to play.

So playing cm, cd modes with a bunch of randoms... Idk, good luck with that. What I suggest is trying to collect like 10-15 normal, decent ppl, set up a time like 21, 22 server time and then try that.

For me it was. Even if my team had random roaming boots+dust ursa against freefarming naix. The ursa which ruined the entire game. And my friend, the pudge player, was lagging. I still found the fun. I did not pick things they were spamming me to pick for. I simply did not react at most of that spam.
And it was fun how we lost early/midgame (which i expected to be finish time) having superior picks.

I do not care about losing/winning
Same as you guys should really not; The fun is in the gameplay at all. It was a way better than all the recent Safelist games together. Because people are not pretending to be 'professionals', because people do not behave arrogant. It was typical pub fun game, i really liked it.

Isn`t it what this thread about? :-D

P.S. for example, Iccup has -CM games at low ranks very often, and absolutely random pubbers are playing there. It's a good practice to play -CM / -CD games in pubs especially.
Waiting for you and such people today

well the workaround about playing cm with randoms is that you ask them 3 heroes they can play and pick from that (still not great) but better than pick me xy, or you try to suggest some fitting semi-retarded hero they might like - atleast thats what i got so far
