Title: psr calculation
Post by: Alucardo on July 25, 2011, 22:34
i need someone to help me how this psr actually calculate how much i should get (+) and how much i will lose (-) deponding if u won or lost

i start my topic : regarding this game

http://playdota.eu/stats/game/2166519/apem-eu-1 (http://playdota.eu/stats/game/2166519/apem-eu-1)

i will quote some things from lobby chat

01:52       Sentinel avg. PSR: 1488(32% to win), Scourge avg. PSR: 1516(68% to win)
01:52    the_justice:    !r

i know it isnt shown in lobby but it told me that i get +1/-0
when host typed balance it got like this

01:57       Sentinel avg. PSR: 1503(45% to win), Scourge avg. PSR: 1501(55% to win)
01:59    the_justice:    !r

this time i had +0/-0

can someone explain me how is that? when we had better percentage vs noober ppl i would get +1 from that game but when host balance and its worse to me i got +0 if i won???????????

U had more than avg. (avarage) PSR that was in game when balanced...that means avg PSR was 1503 and u probably had more than 1600 or 1700 or what ever...mkay?

If you want to have chance to get some points(more than 1) you need to play games with higher average PSR.

If you have significantly higher PSR than average PSR, you'll get +0/-0.

If you have significantly lower PSR tan average PSR, you can get +20/-20.

That means if you are bad(or have bad luck) you will loose more and more point with other next game.
Example:
You have 1650, you always play game with 1600 PSR average.
You loose once, you loose 3 PSR.
Next time you loose 4. Than 5, 7, 9, 12, 15. If you get to 1300 PSR and still play 1600 PSR game you'll get +20/-20. This is just example, I dunno how many points you would loose or gain.

I just wanna say that this system favors better players(players with higher psr). If you loose game where you are the best(that means you should have higher chance to win) you should loose the biggest number of points, coz some noobs beaten youm but you loose 0. If you loose game where are you the worst you shouldn't loose many points since you are the worst=it is expected that you will loose, but the opposite is true, you'll loose the biggest number of PSR of your team.

I know this isn't the thing you are asking, I just tried to explain you how it works so if you think about it you may get your answer.
Anyway click to link and play with that calculator, it may help you understand how this PSR thing works.

Yea but you can try to set different options so that may help you to understand how PSR works.
I just tried it with PSR of players you played with, I've used PSR after game not before so it isn't 100% accurate, but I was lucky:
(http://img638.imageshack.us/img638/4238/calcgn.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/638/calcgn.jpg/)
As you can see I was very lucky, I just filled the cells with PSR of players you played with randomly, but result is pretty accurate.

psr is stupid imo,example

when I play in a team with 1700 average psr against 1650 I get +1 / -0

but when we balance and make it like 1675 1675 I get 0/0 just like you wrote above, unfortunately this system works like that, you need to have average team psr above some number in order to gain psr for example for me its like 1700 atm and if both sides are under this I get 0/0but when one of the sides is a bit above then +1/0 if its too high like 1740 vs 1650 I get +2/-1(if it was 1700 vs 1700 it d be +1/-1 = lame, stupid cause I play with better team and I get more + and i dont lose more)

this goes on like this and its only one of the stupid sides of psr there are more believe me =P

what Night^^Stalker can say, he rarely takes +1 by a random game ;/

night stalker is getting +1/-0 since 3 months and he is very glad about it :D,cos he played many games at start and won most of them, when he reached 1800 there were 50ppl over 1750 and he was playing with those 1750 rated peeps vs 1650 rated ppl = +1/0 or +2/-1 which is why he never lost more than 2 psr since very long time.Thats why I dislike psr, every game u should at least lose 1 points to prove ur worth.Otherwise if someone chooses to get +1/-0 he never loses any psr by hosting a game and arrenging the psr like that =P

Well, dota isn't always for psr is it, if you just want to have a fun game you wont care if you win psr or not
