Actually some people collect their "pay" actively by abusing powers the community entrusted them with, for example by finding imaginary reasons to ban their in-game enemies. So i wouldn't say that they aren't getting paid. There are just some who truly work for the community and some who work for the ability to feel themselves as "boss", lets hope the most of the current staff are of the first type

I realise that there is more cancerous community then these one(meaning DotA community in global). Answer is LoL community. You fellas cant imagine how many frustrated bois are there. Playin it for like 2 months so far its going well but there is a lot of things to learn there. You need much more calmness there because of their report command example 4 dog's pardon wanted to say god's teammed can result chat restriction and I dont want to say that average year of player is old as same game.
Back to LA..in general
This platform is hard stucked. Instead of making 1-2 week pause to make big changes they just collecting everything that someone upload for it. Make big impact on game same for forum and client. Do something with your marketing and then you can think about future. As far as I could see is that people here are NOSTALGIC about D1 even If they have good PC they will come back to play here. Definetly fellas that are involved in this should think about doing something for community

That was like metafora for part when LA was will we be OLD or NEW D1 platform("new map" and patch). I thought that was right time for big changes but on right way.
