Automute.
« on: January 25, 2010, 14:48 »
I'm a person who likes that host doesn't have much power, that's why I'd like to implement this easy improvement.

Automute will mute people who flames and it will be done for a period of time.

First time that someone flames bot will automute him for 60 seconds. Second time it'll be 120 seconds, etc.

So flamer will be automuted (NumberOfTimeThatHeFlames * 60).

This will avoid that people request for a ban on forum because someone was flaming the whole game.

How should the bot know when someone is flaming? A list of flames is posible, but what about non-english?
Also, why mute a player 2mins for 2nd time? I think it should be like this:
1 - 30secs
2 - 30secs
3 - 1min
4 - 2mins
5 - 3mins
Also, the bot recieves messages even if the player is muted (but doesn't send them to other players). What if he flames when he is muted?

I've played with other bots and bot's doesn't let anyone to flame. The official language is English so if someone flames in croatian then he should make a ban request. This is public bot and here the language is English. The average of a game time is 45 minutes, so I think that 60 * NumberOfTimesInsulted is a good timing for flamers.

Also, if he flames more than 5 times, bot could autoban him for 3 days or something like this.

Thing is i suggest this , when he swears in english bot mutes him for 30 sec for one swear word now acording to how many swears he makes +30 sec get added . Thats what i have seen on other bots.

60 seconds in start is too much.  People are are beings with emotions + saying things like "sh*t" after you get killed dont have to be necessary flaming. I would put 10 seconds as warning and then go *3 (i.e. 10,30,90,270 seconds).

However flaming doesnt have neccesarily mean he uses rude words. Thus i would keep the ability of host to mute as well. Automute can be evaded easily.

seconds should not be added to each time u swear cuz that will hinder team communication . It should be at a constant of 30 sec . Everytime u swear u get muted for 30 sec. If u use more than one swear word + 10 sec. That is the actual one which sounds fair.

...i think its a bad idea...ever since it first apeared on bots ( automute ) i hated it...it simply limits the gameplay...same as a regular mute...

...as for the regular mute i think that host should have limited 'power' so when a host mutes some1 it last only like 1+ minutes...in order to remove perma mute by noob hosts...or is this subject for a separate topic ?

QFT. What is this, child protection? Swearing =/= flaming. Mute is fine as it is, a bot could never understand humans. If mute is abused, ban can be requested. It is easy to keep flaming with simple use of * or space, but normal hard-working people who just accidentally get pissed off at nobody in particular, get punished.

THere is a host. Tell to host who is flaming and he should mute him. When some1 report that to me, I ask opposite side some1 more to confirm. Then I mute flamer for a while and unmute him later. Problem is what if some1 flames in nonenglish what ek0 said. I often see that ppl from Serbia and Croatia flame each other.

Yea i think u r fucking right. I just fucking can't stand bots who mutes me for swearing. Big fucking deal if i swear... Besides i never fucking insulted/flamed anyone in my life. Although u can flame/insult people w/o swears or even if u cut the swear word like "fu ck", stupid pathetic bot wont mute u..
It's just pathetic...
I feel frustrated when i can't swear and that limits my gameplay.
