5 sec blink is rikis best skill, combined with smoke. u can blink in or out the fight fast

first of all riki is crap at low lvl and fragile even at mid game  so if u can't handle lane (vs proper oponents) u won't be able to either get a kill also   even if u will ur team will be dead during that time   go watch some pro replays ul never c riki used

thats like 4supports + riki as carry, unless you make battleomniknight with roofteller radi+cleaver, krobelus buriza mkb and silencer ummm. bfly hot skadi tanker?? HELL NO

well riki is kinda useless in serious matches just like gondar. why? too fucking weak invisibility wont save your ass ok.
mkb and smoke is useless for autoattack dps hero

but i agree u get 20:0 easily in pub games with riki, gondar clinkz etc.

Well wow.

1) Don't play riki as a solo. He has absolutely zero lanecontrol, no means to harass, and only a semi-decent escape skill. any DECENT lane with at least one stun or slow will absolutely destroy him (and just think about what a lane like CM - slayer will do to him). And other solo heros who CAN solo will also completely outlane him, leaving him underlevelled and underfarmed and thus making riki useless for the rest of the game.

Riki should be laned with a babysitter. Personally I would prefer offensive babysitters like Lich or CM who have spells that riki can use to blinkstrike and land hits (Lich's frost nova, CM's nova, bite).

2) Lvl1 blinkstrike OR smokescreen should always be taken in order to escape or set up an early gank. Don't get backstab, it does damage based on your agility and is rather useless as an early game means to deal damage. Late-game your agility rises, so backstab should be gotten mid- to lategame. Don't be the idiot who feeds first blood because you take backstab for ~10 extra damage instead of an escape skill (by the way, lvl1 blinkstrike already deals 30 extra damage).

3) By shield I presume you mean poor man's shield? Take one instead, they don't stack very well and two would take up a space you need for other items.

4) Your extention items are fine. Diffusal is a great item on riki. But you forgot the manta. Don't rush a butterfly after your diffusal, riki is a poor farmer and you wont pull it off unless you are being fed heavily. Farming up that eaglehorn will take some time and is more risky for you and your team. Manta has an easier build-up and great synergy with diffusal. Plus it gives riki the ability to mindfuck even more and dodge spells.

riki sux in competitive games because he doesnt have any good nukes, damaging skills. he has to get good agi carry items to gain power. your enemies will buy sentry wards, dust, gem even in early game. riki is bad pick for serious gaming, its just a fact.

said that already on page 2 or 3 here but yeah riki sux in serious games bu heres not competitive matches not many ppl counter him but I do - Slardar, bounty muhahaha  die you blue freak
