I don't really remember but when she sees someone she can stone him/her/it. A guy came with Mirror-shield  and medusa saw her self in the mirror and she stoned herself O_O

Fail , he used that shield to see where she is , so she cant suprise him (thats her way to do it , she jumps in front of u , and ur first reaction to see her eyes) btw , ur theory doesnt match , he would be stoned too.

Btw she was priest in Athens temple , but she got raped to death , and Athena gave her power to turn people in stone , mostly men.
