Viper Strike
Deals 145 damage per second (5 second) and slows speeds by 80%

Etheral:
Gives 40 agility. Assume you have 80 yourself. 120 agility in total.
Ether Blast: Target unit is slowed by 30% for 3 seconds and is dealt 2.5x your agility as damage. Ethereal units take 40% extra magic damage and cannot attack or be attacked.

Explanation:
First use ulti then etheral. See what happens:
145 + 145x1.4 + 145x1.4 + 145x1.4 + 145 + 120x2.5 = 1200 damage
80% + 30% = 110% slow

So, ulti takes 5 times 145 but with etheral 3 of them will be more and also you cast 2.5 times your agility as damage.

Whom to use? I use it in combat to low hp but high damage heroes such as mortred or nevermore. So they cant hit and mostly die.
How to use? Cast the spells then go behind your enemy during etheral process and after etheral, hit with slow. gg.

I dont even mention that your friends can cast spells on him as well with 40% more damage !!!

How can you get 110% slow?
If you cast Ether Blast and Viper Strike on a unit, he will be slowed 86%, not 110%.

  roflmao, when you slow- it always count with base as 100% that means -> 350ms - 80% (250) = 70ms and from this you count another slow -> 70 - 40%(28) = 42 ms
So max slow with viper and etheral is like this: (I will count normal hero "300ms" +treads that means 365ms)
Use viper strike =  365 -80%    ====>
==> 73 ms - 40% slow(poison attack) ===>  44 ms - 20% (when hero attacks you) = 35 ms - 30% etheral =====>  24 ms   Is biggest slow by viper with etheral !!!

Just go ulti + orb walk.... u can't hit while he is in ethernal blade's effect... and its way easier just to orb walk few hits and kill him faster. Notice u still get the 40% slow from ur skill +  u get 2 hit him with around 200 damage per hit instead of just +75 from ethernal.

Plus Etherial Blade is not a good choice for Viper.

As I said its good for low hp high dmg guys. maybe u wont kill them just ulti and hitting orb because of their life steal or bashers. Etheral would help u to take him out of combat. In addition, you get the opportunity to increase your friends spells. Lets say sk cast ulti or you have a guy with dagon etc.

I like etheral just for 2 heroes; viper luna. imba with luna's ulti as you already know but also with first skill it cast 300x1.4+120x2.5=720 gg

Well the Ghost scepter is actualy very good for viper! As u can hit if u manualy select the orb and hit with it! its great when playing vs high dps heroes.

You have to consider the price of the item first, and when you are going to get it. You also forgot to factor in a hero's natural magic resistance. Getting ethereal when everybody else is level 20 - 25 won't do you any good, since most heroes will have at least 2k hp and their enemy carrys will have lifesteal and much higher dps than you.
