Bans for afking
« on: September 02, 2011, 16:30 »
I am wondering if it is possible to put some longer bans for afking. I played a lot of games, and in 1 of 5 games there is someone who think the game is lost and he is refusing to play, or he just write !FF and stopped playing. I reported at least 15 people just for afking. The ban was always 3 days. I hate when i play and gave my best and then some smart guy in 30th minute of the game says it is over because he died, he write gg and stys in base. I played many games where lost games was won becauze of team effort.  If someone got baned 3 days for afking he will surley do it again. I am just asking for your opinion about this afkers.

I did read the rules. I just sad my opinion. i consider afking and refusing to play as a big rule braking, and i is something that people do purposely.

Hmm... OK, here's a topic for you guys.
How much should afking be considered game ruining?

Some ppl stay afk in base because they think they will not get baned if they dont leave. Problem is that they stay in game and then u cant sold items and get money. So i think afking is even worst then leaving.

If he is afk for 5 minutes you can kick him by -kickafk XX. If he moves around fountain than report him.

I was talking about ppl that are moving around the fountain so they dont leave and get ban. Ofc I report that kind of afking, but my point is that this kind of afking is worst then leaving and 3 days ban is not enough for that kind of game ruining. Ban for 3 days is little comfort.

As much as leaving the game, if not even more, in most cases. Lots of people still dont realize that dota is a really dynamic game, you can literally return to the game after youve been owned over and over and just turn the tide... They dont understand that a hero that is getting trampled now might become the main force on the battlefield as soon as he reaches lvl xx or gets an xx item... But its kinda hard to make this turnover when you have one guy running around the fountain whining how youre all noobs and hes afk till end.

There are of course valid reasons for people going afk for a few minutes, but i dont think that it is the aim of this discussion..

3 days may not be enought but he can(I mean it is possible but not allowed) log into his other acc/make new acc and play next game and ruin it as well...

Ofc he can do it. But that is not something new, that is problem whit mhers and all other baned players. You didnt say anything we already dont know. But I solve this problem easily. I just dont let ppl with 0 games played to play with me (because they are most likely leaver, and that is their second account.)

Y being afk is just like not being there, same as leaving the game. Someone here say it's worst cause your items/cash can go to other players.

I agree too that ban for afking should be same as ban for leaving game.
