i think there is no typical item build for invoker. depends on role u play in game. anyway u will also have a use of scepter and eul.

not always scepter. If u play carry (alacrity + Cold Snap) with lifesteal + buriza, scepter is not necesary because cooldown is low.
Cold snap - 20 sec
Alacrity - 15

yea,right...i havent realy seen a bank in dota...u can make these items only if u play against hard noobs,u are not ganked,u get almost every hero/creep kill...
anyway,have a replay with invo,had 12:4 or 14:2,something like that,and could make only pt,scepter,eul,and going for hex(dunno exactly)

Invoker is fine as he is. They did this only to make players pick him more. Especially in competitive.
Invoker can have only treads the entire game, and in a good team, he can own players with full item complement.
