Suggestion - Gproxy abuse
« on: May 24, 2011, 22:41 »
Lately (especially after bnet switched to 1.26a) many players have started to abuse the benefits of gproxy.

When a player losses connection or intentionally plugs gproxy attempts to reconnect, and people , not eager to wait the allotted time just votekick. So I've seen countless players plugging knowing that they'll just get votekicked.
Also players use it to ruin a game , by turning their connection on/off , inducing lag screen going on and off for long periods so the game becomes unplayable.
I reported a player recently that has abused gproxy in this way and he got a 4 day ban. This should be even greater as stated by the rules.

Maybe the account lock is a bit too harsh ,but give out some announcements or something. More and more people are realising that they could get away with this every day.

Opinions?

a posible fix could be increasing the synclimit max number so you can be playing while the guy reconnects, and the windows should show when u can vote drop.

i didnt see too many times in dota games but it is often in legion td (esp. asian players do that - tr). if some1 lags long he is just votekicked but players with higher rating in dota dont do that with purpose /from my exp/. not everyone has cable connection and u play over whole eu - so some troubles must be. but problem is that with that new patch it happends too often, instability + loosing con. 4 days aint too much but it is affected probably with some line like 2, 4, 6, 8, etc. who knows (stupid anyway). two days are for this bans sufficial cause when some1 dc or he get banned and he's going to play he will create new acc...

ip ban: u are free to post it to official xpam forum, but i think that wont help too much. ip can be changed like everything.

I love how you people manage to see downside of things instead their advantages. Too many people are epicly saved by that wait screen u had to see, playing a mass "dc" game is worse than waiting screen in my opinion. I also know from my experiences, some people have annoying ISP's which close the connection for a while or some people get BSOD errors where they can't reconnect it is not really their fault... Even though some so called smart people abuse it, it is really a great system for many players.

I am planning to make a topic about what synclimit is since many people seems like don't know what it really is...
What if he is really disconnected and will return back with Gproxy? You set limit to max and game continues while he has no control over his hero, wasted last hits, maybe died for nothing, maybe missed a kill?
When he returns he lost his advantage...
I have respect for people who is playing for PSR, room owners should not let dc issues ruin the game.

You should totally make topic about !synclimit and !latency. But many players don't visit forum. I often see (in v 1.26) player lags (it pauses the game) with low ping (50 ms) and host sets max synclimit...

About gproxy:
I don't know what is wrong with new 1.26 version but now I have more problems than before. But I don't really use gproxy to ruin game or so. Sometimes I just have problems, I'm sorry for than but it happens. Ingame no1 want to wait, they don't give him/me a minute, they start !votekick immediately and often everyone votes !yes and if one or two players want give him some time other players flame them. Once some1 tried to kick player just because he didn't vote...

Yeah i agree that you should post a topic about synclimit and latency too, many times people with low pings get lags and players !sync m so the player continues playing with lag , and therefore ruins the game

I was not talking about people who do have connection problems, for them gproxy is a massive improvement.
The players who intentionally use it to ruin games are the problem.

Agree because when my connection disconnect from server some smart ass host max the synclimit he thinks that i got lags.... but in reality i am trying to be back in game and finally when i reconnect from Gproxy, like always i get killed because of it... so someone do something about this...

Well in all cases so far , a player with bad score plugs, and gets votekicked, or players with bad score usually start flaming and suiciding , and then the turning of the lag screen on and of starts , after some time they usually say something like "fu all i never gunna stop dis!" and they have 20ms ping, no lag or delay.

avoid games with players with psr 1500-15xx and 50-60 creeps per game (even when gn so called pro) and ofc with 0-2 deny or u ll be pissed very often. be aware of players with low assist ratio cause they avoid team fights, or they just stay in wood or running forward backward on mid and got ganged etc. nothing else wont help you.
