rules PRO in a NOOB game a vica versa
« on: December 29, 2010, 16:47 »
That stuff was propably discussed a lot, but i dont give up to write here one small note. Ill start somehow wider, dont be scared.

Its obvious that bot's purpose is to provide good gaming conditions and competitive spirit. Rules should protect fair play and keep those ideas alive. There are two sides of rule: to prevent and to punish. If somebody doesnt play fair, rules should punish him and stop him to do it further (ban). After ban expires, he will able to do it again, but there is certain chance that he will not continue, because punishment has preventive function too. If u removed that "skill abuse" rule, u removed also that "nurturing" aspect of a rule.

U know, that score isnt objective. If sb join to a pro game and has pretty good score, it may not be certain he is good player. He should "create" his score owning in a noob game but in a pro game will be useless.

But i think thats not a reason to remove that rule - thats reason to KEEP it. Its impossible according to score recognize players in a lobby who suit for defined condition. U recognize that after game ends. If its obvious that player is abusing his skill to ruin games for noobs or vica versa, then must be warned (not in the meaning of "your warn", which is dealt for break a rule) - must be educated to stop do it. Its prevention.

Removing that rule u avoided to solve it truly. U only solved situations, when sb is labeled as a noob in a pro, but his score shows something different, so he actually is not noob. U solved one problem, which unfortunatelly comes from another - not objective score system - but u didnt solved problem itself. True problem is skill abusing; decision that sb is ruining a game due to the abusing his skill is on the players, who played that game; and if theyre able to bring some evident proofs, then that ruiner should be banned).

Dont forget, that any rule cant be perfect, but every rule should has preventive function.

I agree whit you, Skill abuse should be aplied again, to many players that are beginers play some mega noobs , only noobs games , they do 10-20-30 or more score, after they join pro game and ruin it.

And this allow to do multiaccounts if someone is banned, they can do good stats and games in 1 day in noobs game.

More Splits please, :)

P.S. i dont care if it is spit or splits :)

It was removed cause I "abused" the that rule. I have been banning retards in pro games and Mun decided to remove it. With new rating system u will have option to limit game access to retards who have low rating. So atm u can abuse.

i play only ap mode - if there is not pro game available i just join noob game.

skill level of players is the same in noob and in pro (no wards, shit picks, no deny) - all public games when random people can join should be called noob games by default

This type of rule should be applied again, Check this game for exemple http://stats.playdota.eu/?p=gameinfo&gid=1174635 do you only noobs in that game ??
This type of game ruin all the fun of a game, and make players leave from one community to another

I read only the first sentence and the name of the topic..

"rules PRO in a NOOB game a vica versa"

Simple rule, not allowed... But there is a hint in defining who is Pro and who is Noob...
Like i do it, i just check his "Creep Deny Ratio", and if that ratio is high enough ( or good enough ) taking into account the games played i decide who i think is pro or not...

For Example:
FatalityMk, Games 80: Score 13:  Wins/Losses 46/34   K/D/A   5/6/12   Creep: 54 / 8 / 11
If i see this kind of player i would let him play...
But if i see:
FatalityMk, Games 80: Score X: Wins/Losses 14/66  K/D/A  7/5/5  Creep: 70 / 0.17 / 54
This guy i would not like to have in my team... Solo/Stats player and possible not even pro...

Maybe i am not right, but i make the games i host much more balanced and entertaining...

Yea you can get a lot of info from a players stats.
Its not 100% accurate but you can get a pretty good picture if he has 20 or more games.
i play all "pro/expert" marked games. i don't have any friends here to stack and i have 87% win ratio. thats mostly because i read the stats good.
usually i lose because of leavers, not because of skill of players.

its not easy to read stats, but there are several rules that proves to be very true.

Creep stats (for me this is most important, call me crazy but i know i am right) (applies to pd.eu players, in other leagues there is other philosophy)

1. 10+ denies is always good. noob can't fake good denying skill.

2. killed creeps should be something like 8x neutral creeps. if they have that you know they are team players and they don't say "i died i must farm"

3. 80+ creeps killed and you know player is using last hitting and not autoattacking. autoattackers get ~50 creeps on average.

for example:

if a player with 50 games have CK/CD/NK 80/10/10 you know he is very good player who cares for his team.
noob or stat abuser can't get that average in 50 games.

Kills Deaths Assists (less important)

lot can be sad about this, and this can really be abused in noob games.
so i follow this simple logic. if player has this stats D>K>A he is great.
if he has 2 more kills more than assists he is totally lame.
if he has 2 more deaths than assists then he is solo player. avoid.

thats it. there is much more to it and every league has different philosophy.

i was creating something like IQ (Intelligence Quotient) for DotA, using the same philosophy of measuring IQ in people. It not an easy thing to do in constantly changing game like DotA.
And you need very powerful computers for all that but it can be done.

Well i agree with most except these few things:

I have around 50 creeps per game, do i autoattack ? no, the answer is this, i have very nice creep ratio until level 6-7 then i start to gang all around the map and therefore i don`t creep to much... So 50 Creeps per game does not mean much..

About K / D/ A i would put Assists first, then i know the player is a team player...
The rest you are totally right..

Is Yolandy.Visser your nick in battle net or you have another ?
