rendering time depends mainly on ur computer processing power combined with video resolution, length and compression. anyway 30 sec video shouldnt render 30 mins, unless u have amiga while rendering 1920p movie xD

u should have all basics codecs already, if not then download some codec pack like k-lite or cccp.

when u type render as, go template -> custom, then in video format u will have all codecs enlisted

i dont know to what to render a video , i want normal quality , i m using sony vegas 10 hd (69$ i think )
always when i render by default settings my 30 SEC video it takes 30 MINS ( no music , only 2x txt +1 video , and where can i download the codec like XVID/DIVIX ? )

This is my time at MP4, 30s, 1280x720p HD, 2-4MBps bitrate

This movie is 8.6 mb big. its a minute and a half.

3 mins = 18mb,
6 mins = 36mb
9 mins = 54mb

and thats not big at all.

I just did these videos now.

One is 1080p, mp4, 10s, 4.000.000 bits per sec, 1920x1080p = 4.9 mb.


The second is 720p, mp4, 10s, 4.000.000 bits per sec, 1280x720p, =4.6 mb (rofl)

So you get 1080p and a higher rez, for measly 0.3 mb increase per 10s.

Lets do the math.

1080p = 1min = 29,4mb = 5min = 147 mb = 10min = 294mb

720p= 1 min = 27,6mb = 5 min = 138mb = 10 min = 276mb

FF is great but for final formating to vid on upload
but the best output format in AAE and any edit program I tried is for me Quicktime format by apple, its .mov and compression codec in it use Photo-JPEG its very reliable and even fast cause it render each frame like JPEG pic and then put them together and vid quality is realy big and the file is not so big like damned fu AVI which is based on interpoleted fields its tv format and its two field each is half frame and projecting on screen first one then second so its small delay and this cause lines displacement in big movements and then together make full frame so its good for tv but for net and movies sux pretty hard cause they see this delay
so use .mov its compatible with AAE and every edit prog can handle it too but you need to have quick time player installed cause codecs  try it and trust me I work with it for some time and tried many and you will see the difference  and .mov is build for every res from PAL to 1080p, AVI not its PAL/NTSC pure format
btw MPEG seems like good format but it got sooooo many codecs in it and to set it right for your vid you have to be nuclear scientist to handle it cause every company, every comp maker, software maker did their own codecs for it so either your PC or DVD cant read it or its pretty fucked rendered
you have to know for what kind of vid like graphics or normal vid or computer game vid which codec use and how set it up and its endless possibilities in this and if you rendered some good vid you just were lucky

Camtasia 7 is program like Sony Vegas Pro 10.0 just Camtasia is simpler.
With camtasia u can make high quality video in HD 1080 Resolution with great effect . (for example 10 mints will be about 100MB in hd resolution). With Sony Vegas Pro 9 or 10.0 same video will be about 500MB.
 
You can use Sony Vegas for making 3D or 4D intros for your video but I use "cinema4d" hardest program than sony vegas but rly rox because high quality, low size...In cinema you can make after effect ofc  if u like this

So...if u want video with high quality, low size and in HD 1080 resolution download camtasia and cinema, I can send you licence codes if u need it
One my friend play Lineage 2 and he use this programs for videos (fraps, camtasia, cinema) watch how looks...

yeah cinema4d as maya are really hard to use its 3D graphic and you have to know basic or even advanced technics and how object works in 3D space wth lights and physics  some sort of 3D you are able to make in AAE as with 2D graphic I put in my work thread now some new FX with 3D things in AAE made for some dota movie just to know how to do it  for editing vegas sux with bigger res and size for time but dunno your software but I recommend AVID some of you maybe heard of it its profi editing tool which use tv and film makers around the world and in holywood its basic program for that theres waste of time to tell how many film were made with this tool from LOTR Ironman Transformars and these are the movies which are editing freaked and you can edit what res you want cause it works cool way you put the files in to bin which is your project and AVID makes from it lower res proxies for edit that takes some time and disc space but its perfect that theres no lagging no slowing you can ultimately move back forward and every transition and slow FX or correction is saved on disc and unlike from others programs still goes fluently I edit like editor in it and I can say why its so used around the world....priceless

i agree. alot commercials are easy to make (in basics) and you can recognise many of the components, especially if you watch tutorials on youtube. This goes for photoshop aswell.

i agree. alot commercials are easy to make (in basics) and you can recognise many of the components, especially if you watch tutorials on youtube. This goes for photoshop aswell.

indeed if I watch it time to time I not look at what is for but how its made, just studying and movies as well like are they edit how is camera used and so on its its professional deformation  but story is important too you can do with perfect story shitty movie but you cant do good or best movie with bad story 
so I watch the movies for more times and focus everytime on one aspect
do that sometimes and you will be time to time well surprised how creators bluffed you
its fact that basic understanding of movie making and watching is that all is just illusion
