Controling !rmk abuse
« on: September 20, 2010, 15:29 »
When a player spams u mute him, and end of problem. So it should be. However, this won't always be enough for he can spam the same with the !rmk command. And there is no way of stopping him except votekick, which doesn't get enough votes sometimes to work. The sentence after !rmk command is long and with enough spams it pretty much covers the whole screen, making the game totally unplayable. I am thinking that this abuse should be confronted with some measure. I have no concrete solution but maybe something in the line of making a !rmk cooldown time after enough times !rmk has been used by a player, or, an extremer solution, is to give host the command to mute the player altogether making him unable to abuse anything (ofc, such command can be abused as well if not met with a heavy ban for abuse).
Any have similiar experience with the !rmk command abuse?

Well, the rmk msg is showed by the host. as u can see in chat  :

amreas      19:26        Player [ILuvMoney] voted to remake, still 6 votes are needed to remake the game.

So i think that if you mute the host, the remake request won't appear.
I never tested yet but it's just an idea... ! Who knows.  ;D

this sounds legit.

1 remake vote per game and it stays 4ever.

if 6? people are needed to remake and 4 guys remakes at 15min. sooner or late someone else does !rmk and there is only 1 needed. I bet you got what i meant here. it should be simple to code too.

I sometimes don't care if they abuse it, like when its second minute with a leaver and the other team that has 5 doesn't want to remake. If someone spams it at that moment, they eventually will remake it 8)

Only host (owner) can mute himself, so it will be hard for him to think about that! :P
when we were fighting againt the biggest power hunger i ever met, MrNiceGuy. Now i see him in you, no, you became way worse than him. He at least had some heart, he cared about ppl who were with him all the time.

And it won't help since the messages from bot will still display.

Solution? Simple. You can vote only once per vote. The bot won't display anything after the voting for !rmk expires.... So the muted spammer would be able to display rmk message only once per few minutes.

Dont think this would work. It would also be abused in certain situations. Things change during the game, and players might want to change their minds about rmking the game. Here is an example: sentinel looses a player at minute 12, votes rmk, but scourge wont give it to them. Eventually, the sentinel team starts winning, and their !rmk votes are still considered valid, so all it takes is a few scourge votes to end the game. I believe that a better way to stop flooding !rmk is to limit !rmk requests by the same player to 1 every 1-2 minutes.

And it won't help since the messages from bot will still display.

Solution? Simple. You can vote only once per vote. The bot won't display anything after the voting for !rmk expires.... So the muted spammer would be able to display rmk message only once per few minutes.

Also a good idea, whatever is easier to implement

i guess the best solution is cooldown for !rmk command (about 5 sec) it dont take full screen and spamers will desist fast

Well, I was in that game and belive me, it was hard for us even to finish the game fast, coz our screens were covered with this message. As someone noted !votekick haven't worked, because of not enough votes.
One think - someone have idea of only one !rmk command per game. I disaggree coz a lot of times it happened to me, that someone from opposite team left in early game - we voted !rmk they say "lets play! play u cowards!", so u play own them and then they start to vote !rmk. I never vote again coz IMHO they should have fast lesson about not voting only when it suits u :)
So some !rmk cooldown should be enough.
