I am already old enough, grades don't matter unless you are trying to get into college, have fun trying to program without college, especially finding a job which involves programming.

I also went to the best university in Romania, Politehnica, and I got there without giving a flying fuck about my grades til then and not even wasting a single minute of my free time studying, my grades were obviously still ok regardless, because, you know, I have a functional brain, unlike you.
A lil test and a lil interview and those lil kids bowed down before me and thanked me for gracing them with my presence.

On the contrary, having past programming experience even as an amateur/hobbyst is as important if not even more important than college degree, in IT sector. Go on a job interview - they won't ask you about your studies, they'll want you to talk about what you've programmed before, even if it's something as stupid as writing a cookie clicker clickbot, redesigning your school's homepage, or a primitive usb stick keylogger you used to prank your friend (or foe) with.
