I was actually able to find those first versions of DotA for Reign of Chaos. No recipes, heroes had 30 dmg, very different. But for example Dragon Knight is basically the same ever since.

First dota map I played was 5.84. I think it wasnt the newest one at that time, but thats the first one I played. And not online, ofc, I had Dial-up internet at that time

It was around 2006 if Im not wrong. Later on I started playing with 2 friends at game rooms, and it was really addictive game

Btw, anyone remembers those huge Hydra creeps, which spawned like every 10 minutes?

you mean 5.84c, that was the most popular map of the time

that was supercreep mode, there was also deathmatch mode and later that stupid WTF mode

my first map was above mentioned 5.84c and online i started when abaddon was a new hero, cant remember the version but he was fucking unkillable imba
