In this world, there exist people with special abilities to manipulate objects and transform one object into another. These people are known as alchemists. This process does come with a cost though, the basic law of alchemy states that in order to gain something you have to sacrifice something of the same value.

The main character is the famous alchemist Edward Elric - also known as the Fullmetal Alchemist - who almost lost his little brother, Alphonse, in an accident. Edward managed to contain his brother's soul in a large suit of armor. While he did manage to save his brother's life, he had to pay a great price himself.

To get back what they've lost, the brothers embark on a journey to find the Philosophers Stone that is said to amplify the powers of an alchemist enormously.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is a re-telling of the story from the manga point of view.

THIS is anime based. There is FMA older version but that serial didnt follow manga

ontopic: well, for most of the people death note is their favorite anime and I totally agree with them, it's just simply amazing, with great characters etc. But for me Code Geass is way better, tbh I never thought that I'd like another anime more than death not, but I actually did.

I don't really like long animes such as bleach, one piece, naruto etc etc... Those animes will never end cuz they keep on making more episodes (even tho most of them are fillers) and sometimes it gets boring to watch those animes.

How about the Dragonball series? DBZ/DBZGT etc. Even w3 has maps regarding it. Or Samurai X. I used to watch many anime series years ago... Darn bloody was a few seconds faster.

It's good that Death note is short but awesome,while Naruto is long and boring.I do not really like animes much but Death Note was pretty good and well DBZ wasn't bad either the first time i watched it,but when i watched it again i noticed that it takes 10 episodes for goku to raise his power level then another 10 friza transforming into bigger levels.I heard good critics about Code Geass but never dared to watch it,i will probably watch it soon.
