Ok, let me make IHRL situation clear; If you are not into reading long posts, then don't comment at all w/o reading the entire post cuz it might sound silly but I like to explain everything from the very beginning.

Dear Members and Staff of LA.com:

In one century the world developed more than in every other century combined. Weapons were created that could destroy the planet, politics evolved to include more than just the wealthy white man, and the understanding of the human condition was elevated to an all time high. Each of these things were crucial to the development of the lives we have today; however, the one discovery that had the largest impact on the evolution of humanity was the internet and the world wide web. Personally i'm sure we can all understand this concept. I am certainly not the only one to utilize these tools everyday when I need to get to play on IHRL (I Hate real Life or w/e). Of course, understanding the past is important, but that is not why this establishment is here. We gather on IHRL to enjoy the thrill in competition (and to scream NOOB SUPPORTER!), but we also gather here for another reason. As a community we determine what the future of DotA is, and I believe that there are certain steps we need to take in order to ensure a strong and wonderful world of DotA and this IHRL league in general.

Let me start out by expressing what I believe is the first, and most crucial, thing we as a community must come to terms with. DotA is more than just a game. There are hundreds of men and women who make money by competing at the top levels of play. What does this mean for members of the community? In simple terms it means there is a market, or at least a little sapling of a market. We must foster this little tree so that one day it will grow into a wonderful oak. A larger market for DotA that would have many advantages. Not only would professional players be able to make more money, but the pool of players and tournaments would increase in size. Slowly the game will become more common place. I would not be surprised if in fifty years online competitive gaming becomes the new football for society. However, In order for competitive gaming to go that far, we as a community or as a IHRL league need to set a goal. Something that the community will work for as a whole. I strongly suggest that readers post a comment reflecting on what this goal could be.

Here is my two cents about some kind of goal. The DotA community should strive to be as professional as possible. By professional I mean that the community should be mature. Yes, this is the internet, but that is no excuse to hold poor community values and ethics. If a majority of players were to play with a strong sense of selflessness, the community of IHRL would grow stronger, and we would stride easily ahead of any competition. What would this look like in practical forms? I suggest a document that lists out a set of moral obligations that members of LagAbuse.com community can pledge to. As each member makes the pledge, by post, their Eurobattle.net Server account name would be added to the list. This list of obligations and members would be a powerful message to other gaming communities, and would set DotA apart from every other online game in history.

Finally there is only one more idea that has been pondering my head for a couple weeks now. The release of IHRL was a major success in my online group. From professional gossip, meta-game, and the future, IHRL wonderfully analyzes many aspects of the DotA community; however there is one thing it could never do. IHRL could never foster thoughtful response from the community. IHRL is all about the opinions of leading officials. The next step should be something called SafeList. A place where members can craft thoughtful opinion pieces that analyze what DotA actually is. Similar to a forum, Safelist would be a conversation between many people, but it would be in an academic environment. It would be a big commitment from admin's. This place would require strict rules. For example, there would be no place for 'trolls'. Each piece, and response, would require in depth thought, and good support. Without those things, it would not be allowed on the forum. What would the advantages of this be? SafeList would define what the game is. It would give the community direction, and control over the future of the game. It would bring a heightend level of professionalism into the community, and would bring us one step further into the future of DotA.

Hopefully it is clear why this thread belongs in feedback and support. This is a request for IHRL, which has been an absolute wonder in the community, to take these steps. I am sure I don't stand alone when I say that IHRL deserves to be the leading figure in everything DotA. I plead, however, that the community stands up for what it believes. Respond to this thread in as much detail as possible. Prove me wrong. Fight for what you believe the game we love is, and should be! Continue the rapid change in this new century. Be the one that makes this century the most advanced and open minded in history!

And don't forget there is still hope for Dota 1 as long as IHRL will be reunited!

@ jean : the goals you set are waaaaay to high for what the pool of players can provide. Most of them are just immature kids who live with their parents, thus they wouldn't be able to commit to the strict profile you're asking for. And I doubt they are willing to be shaped into what you desire. One should learn to enjoy the game, without diminishing the other players' pleasure.
