I can't run euroloader..
« on: October 11, 2012, 13:04 »
I've gottta problem. I'm playing here 1 year and everything was ok. Now i reinstalled my windows (Local Disk C) but wc3 files were on Local Disk D and they are still there. So now when i reinstalled it i tried again to play and i cant run euroloader.. It says "Warcraft III was unable to initialize DirectX. Please ensure you have DirectX 8.1 or newer installed and that your display drivers are current. DirectX may be found on your warcraft III install CD under Options." same words like that. So that screen appears everytime when im trying to start euroloader,wc3,frozen throne.. I tried to download directx 8.1 but couldnt find it.. Someone knows what should i do?

It requires DirectX 8.1 or newer so get newer.
Dl DirectX 9.0c or if your GFX card supports 10 or 11, you can dl this version.

It doesn't matter where you extract those files, you can extract them into some folder on your desktop (you won't need those files after instalation). Just run instalation, it should install DirectX into your Windows folder and it should find it itself, so all you need should be:
1) Extracting files anywhere
2) Run instalation
3) Click Next few times
4) Agree with some terms
5) Next
6) Finish
7) Maybe restart your PC

A random post i found on internet it might help though
Quote
THE ONLY REASON WHY THE ERROR MESSAGE
"..Unable to intialize DirectX..."
APPEARS IN WARCRAFT IS THAT
DIRECT3D ACCELERATION IS DISABLED
(even if your graphics card is direct3d-capable)
or IS JUST SIMPLY NOT SUPPORTED BY YOUR GRAPHICS CARD.

To know if it's disabled,
type dxdiag in the run command.
Go to Display tab.
Check DirectDraw and Direct3d acceleration.
Status of these two must be "Enabled" and is clickable.
If it's not, then your Direct3d is indeed disabled,
which prohibits warcraft from running.

SO THE QUESTION NOW IS, HOW DO YOU ENABLE DIRECT3D? Simple.
Just go to Display Properties (from the Control Panel),
then click Settings tab,
and then click Advanced button.
Look for the tab where "Hardware acceleration" is present
(in most cases, it's in the Troubleshoot tab).
Drag the indicator to Full.
Click Apply and OK.

You may have DirectX 11 but does your GFX card support it?
