After listiening to cheap techno (mostly russian, with strong disco-polo influence) waaaaay more than I'd like to (thanks to my stubborn cousin), my first impression about dubstep was like, "cool, at least they finally made something relatively creative".
... And then I got to know some of those those godawful dubstep remixes of everything they possibly could think of. Seriously, some songs should not be ever touched, you deaf bastards. No, it does not sound cool.
And it's so repetetive it nearly got me bored to death after approximately 3 song. No, I'm not into it. Though I made my cousin switch from techno to dubstep, so I guess he made some progress?

Hold your fire cowboy. I'm pretty fucking sure I explored much wider variety of music than you did and I am mostly driven to new, innovative things. I still hate dubstep (about as much as pop) with passion, it's so dull, repetetive, monotonous and mind-dumbing (and hey, guess what? So is most commercial, mainstream music), does it make me "a grandpa who hates everything new" too?
Today, in fail logic counter:

And who, do you think, dubstep is catering to, "a grandpa who hates everything new"? Target is the same age group. The same group of people that are drawn away from anything more sophisticated.
You might think dubstep is complex, innovative, and every song is new and original, but in fact it's pretty damn reverse:
- Clean dubstep has few layers of sound; this hardly contributes complexicity,
- Variety of chords, as rich as starving child in Africa; See note above,
- Every single song uses same damn overall scheme. Every. Single. Time. So-called originality.
- Basically, it's like 90% bass line + 10% random noises. Rich sound? Hardly, for me.
I know, I know. Using electronic samples is so new and cool. Or is it? Incidentally, those afraid of new things grampas thought of it before. With different results though.
Ok, I'm wasting time here, I could start blabbering like this for hours for no result.
For a nice ending, I'll point out that prolly Skrillex, but also deadmau5 or Tiesto, are great examples of dubstep complextro. Go google it up.

As for me , i dont really like it , but i can listen to it with NP. But i am not hater of it , i respect other people liking what they want. I just dont like the idea that someone is using distorted noises as sound , but i figured out that it has it energy when i was DJing on my friends party , he is Dubstep fan , so when i plaid it for him, they were freaking out ( on MDMA . but it doesnt change the fact that dub has its own power in it ) .
I always think this way : Good music is good music if it has its originality and flow (and some few more things ), genre doesnt matter. And i honestly think , people who spit music based on genres and spam youtube ,OMG HOW U CAN LISTEN TO THIS CRAP , SKRILEX RULZ , are idiots and any other comment of that type are made by idiots who know shit about music.
For example ,i hated house music , because there were lots of commercial fucks who think downloading same samples over and over again , edit them in EQ , and using shitty vocals with reverbing to the max is all that matters and i found my self lsitening only to Psy Trance and normal Trance. Then i listened to few DNB , Progressive House and Techno tracks , and changed my mind and understood the whole point.Now i listen to whole bunch of different house , techno and etc styles and people who know me , always said that i have good taste , and i can judge people what they like most - one of reasons i started wth Djing.
From my exp , best tracks are the ones who dont have more then 30 , 000 views on youtube , because those tracks can be only be found by right people ( not saying that some songs with 30 000 000 are crap )

And other guys are like "How can you listen to this sh*t, they can't sing, XXX is way better", by XXX in this case I mean some metalcore/emocore/screaming bands...
If I don't like something, I'm not searching for it. I won't listen to it and i won't comment it. Isn't it simple?!
