« on: November 29, 2012, 21:27 »
Do you want DOTA2 invite somebody, who still got nothing and want it? Got some.

I dont want money ofc, its odd, but maybe some offer (some small indie game from Steam, if you got or some dota ingame items in future when you will get) or if you will be very good, just to have somebody to play with ;)

(to crew: if you dont want to have those offers here, dlt it, np :D)

DotA Discussion / Dota map with dota2 look
« on: April 23, 2012, 12:13 »
for all who like dota2 and dont have it now or just have it and like both dotas
here some custom dota map version

http://www.playdota.com/forums/showthread.php?t=765977

its dota2 UI, terrain, heroes and more like custom trees etc implemented in war3 dota
check it out

and I dont want to read here "lol dota2 sux why imlementing it in dota1", or "why bother with it", cause I find quite amazing that
few guys made this, that never did some dota2 AI, custom map etc. and with stuff that its hard to implement in war3 engine, so its long hard work
you dont have to play it just check it, what fans are capable of ;)

Spoiler for Hiden:
(if there were map already published, you know what to do, staff :D)

Humor / DotA drink LAN :D
« on: November 11, 2011, 12:04 »
found this concept on joinDOTA, worthy of try with friends :D

Quote
First off I want to state two things:
1. I am in no way supporting underage drinking (Though lets be honest, we all did it/are doing it).
2. I'm not sure if this is the correct forum. It's dota related so I'll leave it here for now.
.
Anyhow, this is how the game goes. First of all get some kind of a LAN party going, preferrably outside somewhere (on PCs rather than laptops if possible) and prepare shots. Of any alcohol really. Then boot up a game of Dota.
The rules are simple. You die, you take a shot. This can be modified to be a shot every few deaths if you want to last longer, in every sense of the phrase. I advised being outside on PCs because the smell of puke doesn't bother anyone outside and you may damage your laptop.
Finally, set the replays to AUTOSAVE and watch them the next day (or day after if you're too hungover). The replays are fantastic. I once saw someone buy no items whatsoever, claim through ALL chat that they would get Roshan and then get themselves killed by ancients, because they couldn't find the Rosh-pit. For added hilarity, set up a voice recorder and listen to it while watching the replays.

Have fun! (:

Resources / Quick tips - PS and other graphic/FX programs
« on: September 30, 2011, 12:03 »
if you creating some art in 3D program or AE (which is only still frame - pic) or in any program that work with 3D space and DoF, its very hard and long to compute for it on viewing and rendering so easier way is to not create DoF inside that program and render final result out, put it to PS (photoshop) and create DoF there, if you know how DoF behave and looks you can create nice depth
just duplicate the layer, use on new one some blur FX (best is gaussian blur, its closest to lens blur, but if you got some other filter that can do lens blur use it) and very smartly erase the parts on that layer which you want to be in focus, use different opacity and softness to reach real result ;) repeat it one more time or few more times with more lvl of blur to reach more lvl depth ( depending how deep is your pic or how large is your focus distance.
you can do this ofc in regular PS work too if you create sigs or anything else w/o any other program ;)

tip: read some articles with photo examples about lenses and focus distance, it will help you to imagine how different DoF looks like

Resources / After Effects basics (tips and links)
« on: September 01, 2011, 20:48 »
In this topic you find basics for creating in Adobe After Effects, I will put here time to time some links on tutorials (video or strip) made by different artists, that can show you techniques to achieve basic effects and workflow in that awsome software and I will put here some own tips and tutorials, comments of those FXs etc. so you can start to handle motion graphics and FXs. So if you are interested in this check this topic time to time cause I m going to add things here by the time...

If any question ask in Questions and Answers topic in GFX section or PM me if some exact problem.

1)
At start I write some info about AE itself. There are more versions, so find the one that suits your OS.
    1) what OS you have - WIN, MAC or Linux

    2) most of you (or all) got WIN I think, so what version of WIN you got - 32 bit (XP, VISTA, W7) or 64 bit (VISTA, W7) - if you got 32 bit versions you can only install and use all Adobe programs including AE to CS4 version, and if you got 64 bit versions you can have with no problems CS5 or CS5.5 version on your computer

    3) difference between 64 bit versions (CS5, CS5.5) and rest previous and older ones is that the 64 bit can use your computer RAM that is bigger then 4GB so it doesnt matter how big your RAM is, the bigger is the better, but at older version your programs use just 4GB RAM max. even you got bigger.

   4) for good performance is suggested to have at least Dual core (doesnt matter if Intel or AMD) but Quad core is best for you, 1GB RAM on 32 bits and 2GB on 64 bit - still if you can, upgrade your RAM to at least 4GB and on 64 bit even higher if you can, graphic card at least supporting OpenGL 2.0 and screen at least 1280x800, still GPU is not essential for AE, but some FXs need GPU render and support like motion blur, so if you got stronger and faster its better for work and render, Im not mentioning disc space its obvious need, and Quicktime is needed so dl it for free

note: all supported graphic cards you find here http://www.adobe.com/products/aftereffects/extend.html
           Quicktime dl page http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/

If some problem, browse some sites or PM me...

2)
First tutorials are for beginners, they are made by Andrew Kramer (maybe you are familiar with him and his work) from VideoCopilot, check this site and you can find here many awsome FX tutorials and tips, but I its for people who know how to work in AE already, so here I put link for his 10 tutorials that show you work within the program and basic controls...
